Foursquare meets layar meets ctf. Teams meet up and check in over a week to take command posts. Checkin time is fifteen or more minutes so why not eat or have coffee. Use layar or similar ar view to see other players or metadata.
Similar to Charles Stross' concept but seems really doable.
