Dear Western Australia...

... I'm going to saw you off from the rest of us, starting at the Nullabor.

You rejected Daylight savings time, and ruined 3 years of me running around after you, chasing correct timezone calculations.

Enjoy being an island.
Signed,
Daniel O'Connor

PlanningAlerts.org.au

Planning Alerts for Australia - what a neat concept.

It's basically an RSS aggregator for development applications in your local area. Even better, it's got an API for getting data back out.

I've just asked the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to have a look, and also the team behind EDALA.

You want this kind of thing? Email your council or land services department today! Write a screen scraper, email an IT department, do whatever it takes :)

On errors and angry demographics

Conroy's internet filtering report is out. For the opt in filtering; around 3.4% errors are being reported.

So, if every aussie visits only 1 web page, there will be more people blocked than there are homosexuals in Australia (2-3%).

I don't know about you, but if Conroy were to come out and interfere with Australia's homosexual population; there would be one hell of a noise. No one would touch it; just because of the sheer numbers involved; let alone the political suicide it would be.

Now, every Australian visits one webpage per day for a year, that's a hell of a lot more people; and they are a lot more angry.

Smooth move, Conroy.
